AEAN - airport emergency awareness network

The Airport Emergency Awareness Network (AEAN) is designed to immediately alert all involved emergency stakeholders - airport firefighting teams, rescue services, medical centers or any other vital remote notification points as well as to simultaneously inform all relevant agencies and emergency operation centers. According to the ICAO Doc 9137, the Emergency Notification System is an essential element of the emergency alerting chain.

It provides first responder notifications and guidance platforms - complete emergency information including runway of intentions or actual place of occurence, AC type, nature of emergency, POB, dangerous cargo and other necessary information to emergency personnel.

AEAN ensures that the ATCT Controllers are aware that each individual first responder emergency service has received the information and is deploying. This activity is 100% automatic without burdening controllers with additional duties of making multiple calls to relay information.

Every event in the system is recorded and stored for further safety investigation and analysis. Easy-to-use administration interface allows to play back the order of events and responder location as it was changing during the incident.

Fixed workstations

Installed at ATC Tower and fixed Emergency services locations like ARFFS depots. Used to initiate and monitor alerts on site

Mobile nodes + app

Installed on vehicles such as fire engines, ambulances, crash coordinators, etc. Used by responders to react to occurrence and communicate with ATC being on-the-go.

Executive devices

Installed on locations such as responder headquarters and fire depots - used to control external devices like sirens, klaxons, strobe alarms and automatic gates.

Optional UAVs

Full integration with Atlas Dynamics UAV - ability to dispatch and control drone surveilance on site to see and log complete scene of occurrence remotely.

  • Centralised alert initiation:

The tower air traffic controller can initiate different levels of alerts based on ICAO requirements, so that pre-configured responders will be instantly notified with visual, textual and audial alerts.

  • Responder confirmation:

Emergency responders acknowledge or decline alert calls. Tower controllers are able to monitor responses from all involved responders in real-time.

  • Quick replies and voice commands:

AEAN reduces communication overhead and possibilities of misinterpretation to the minimum. To achieve this system has multiple features for easy information exchange.

  • Geo-location and navigation guidance:

Tower controllers observe all emergency vehicles location, movements and intended routes. If necessary, TWR Controller can redirect them (e.g. if the taxiway is occupied).

AEAN system integration options

The AEAN consists of both software and hardware components. They can be mixed and matched to provide the exact functionality and level of automation that is required by the particular installation scenario.
